Qtum (pronounced “Quantum”) is a Turing-complete blockchain protocol that powers smart contracts and decentralized applications. Qtum is a fork of Bitcoin, fitted with an account abstraction layer that is interoperable with other Turing-complete virtual machines. Qtum uses a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm and leverages Bitcoin’s tested UTXO model. Qtum combines the best features of Bitcoin and Ethereum to deliver a performant value transfer and smart contract layer.
